J-Subcultures

I'm going to talk about AKB 48. The whole AKB team actually consists of 150 members, and not only here in Japan, but also in Jakarta, Indonesia.
The entire AKB 48 franchise includes some 150 girls, making them the largest pop group in the world. Its 48 members rotate in teams to perform live almost every night.
The man behind it all is Yasushi Akimoto. A respected music producer in Japan. He created the group in 2005 to make become stars out of ordinary girls.
The group has also gained significant attention around the world, from New York, to Moscow, to Paris.
None of the girls have strong personalities, but once they get together, they bring like chemical reactions. In other words, all the girls are quite ordinary, but when they get together they become extraordinary like super hero.
So I think people in the worlds are attracted by them. I was wondering they are just for nerds. But it had been changed. I'm not interested in AKB48 that much but I hope AKB48 will make foreigners to start interest in Japan. Moreover they come to visit in Japan to see AKB48.

  1. There seems to be many idol groups which have the same kind of name. For example HKT48, Nogizaka46 etc. I wonder what's gonna be next...

  2. The idea of organizing the biggest idol group was pretty clever and successful. And in the peak, the Exective Akimoto expanded the erea to Osaka, Esaka, Hakata and Jakarta. That was a brilliant idea. But I hate them.

At hta moment, I met many idols there. There are many idols you can meet. If you have a chnece to go, you should go there and meet them one time someday, I recommend you, dude.

  4. I agree with Strawberry...clever business plan, but you have to wonder how anyone over 16 could be a huge fan. What, if anything, does AKB stand for anyway?
